Introduction:
This fundraiser seeks to purchase land and construct a concrete cinder block school building to accommodate preschool through 6th grade, offering a foundation for lifelong learning and community development.
Project Objective:
To build a durable, safe, and well-equipped school in Fendell, Liberia that provides education to children from preschool through 6th grade. The school will include classrooms, administrative offices, a library, labs, cafeteria, auditorium, restrooms, and play areas to foster a conducive learning environment.
Project Overview:
Purchase Land
Purchase adjacent lot to secure 1 acre for the school
Fence & Gate
Secure the property prior to construction with concrete cinder block fence & security gate
Auditorium
A multi-purpose structure for community events and extracurricular activities.
During the early phase, this will be partitioned and used as classrooms.
Classrooms
2 preschool classrooms with age-appropriate furniture and teaching aids.
4 kindergarten classrooms with age-appropriate furniture and teaching aids.
6 classrooms for grades 1–6, each accommodating 30–40 students.
Restrooms
2 restrooms for staff
4 restrooms for students
Administrative Spaces
2 administrative offices
1 staff conference room
Library
A library equipped with grade appropriate books, computers, and adequate setting areas.
Computer Lab
A computer lab large enough for 30-40 students to have access.
Cafeteria
A kitchen area large enough to prepare meals for the students.
Seating area large enough for half of the student body to take lunch concurrently
Play Area
A secure outdoor play area with swings, slides, and open spaces for games.
A multi-purpose court for sports/games
Well and Pump
Drill a closed well with pump and connect to building
Septic System
A proper septic system for easy maintenance and prevent pollution
Solar System
Solar power and battery for power storage
Construction Details:
Building Material: Concrete cinder blocks for durability and climate resistance.
Foundation: Elevated to prevent water damage during rainy seasons.
Roofing: Corrugated metal roofing with insulation for heat reduction.
Sustainability Features: Rainwater harvesting system and solar panels for electricity.
